Printer cartridges and Global warming
The global temperatures have been rising and are continuing to rise. The scientists from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) have predicted that average temperatures are likely to increase by 2 to 11.5 °F by end of the century. This is not far off, and some of our children will be there to experience it unless we do something now.
It is scary even to think about the likely effects of global warming. There could be more chaos, conflicts and deaths due to increases in illnesses, flooding, droughts, hurricanes, migrations, etc.
The principal greenhouse gases that cause global warming are carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and fluorinated gases. In addition to reducing the consumption of oil, natural gas, electricity and/or water, recycling is one area that would help in a significant way in reducing the greenhouse gases. Items that can be recycled include cans, bottles, plastic bags, paper, cell phones, ink cartridges, toner cartridges, etc.
If we can recycle just 10% more printer cartridges, the greenhouse gas emissions will be less by about 100 million pounds which is equivalent to taking 20,000 cars off the road for one year. We need to act now before it is too late to protect ourselves from the likely effects of global warming. Act now and help to reduce greenhouse gases. Let us make our planet a wonderful place to live, not only for us but for all future generations.
